Job Description

The Vendor Risk Analyst/Consultant will perform all areas of vendor risk management on behalf of financial institutions, as well as fulfill the role of program manager for clients utilizing enhanced vendor management services. Third‐party risk management has evolved into a critical role as organizations increasingly rely upon the services of others in today’s connected and complex environment. This role will need to understand the operations of financial institutions and the regulatory requirements involved with building, assessing and maintaining a strong vendor management program. The Vendor Risk Analyst/Consultant will have to develop an understanding of legal, contractual, information security, risk management and operational assessments to excel in this role.  This role requires initiative, passion for service, superior organization and communication skills and problem‐solving capabilities. Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct and lead all aspects of third‐party risk management program over time
  • Manage clients to include:
    • a thorough knowledge of client‐vendor relationships,
    • answering inquiries,
    • providing proactive updates,
    • acting upon requests,
    • assisting with audit and regulatory inquiries, and
    • recommending additional products and services when applicable
  • Develop strong working relationships and maintain ongoing communication with clients and vendors
  • Evaluate and assess third‐party relationships and the risks they pose to the client
  • Recommend best practice mitigation strategies to client organizations
  • Review and assess key data about vendors and contract terms
  • Draft written summary documents regarding vendor risk
  • Seek to understand, evaluate and offer solutions to improve client performance
  • Assist in building / enhancing business processes and product delivery for the vendor risk management function both internally and externally
  • Coordinate, manage and complete primary tasks and special projects with minimal oversight
  • Identify organizational needs and voluntarily take on additional roles
  • Keep abreast of industry and technical business trends

Qualifications

  • Strong individual and team contributor
  • Proficient in time management / prioritization of multiple responsibilities concurrently
  • Proven ability to analyze scenarios and documents and identify critical themes and highlights
  • Experienced in customer / client account management functions
  • Strong written and oral communication (in‐person and telephone) skills
  • Detail‐oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and able to learn other web‐based vendor management and related software
  • Problem‐solve, take initiative for projects and work independently with minimal supervisory oversight
  • Inquisitive and professional growth oriented

Preferred (but not required) Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in a financial institution or related industry, specifically in a vendor management, analyst, audit or similar role
  • Solid understanding of vendor services and products provided to financial institutions
  • Working knowledge of financial institution regulatory requirements
